The Sahay Lab – In and Beyond Photosynthesis for Future Plants

Understanding Crop Physiology of Photosynthesis for Future Plants

The Sahay Lab conducts basic and applied crop physiology research on photosynthesis to understand how plants convert light energy into biologically usable forms. My lab investigates how these processes function at both molecular and physiological levels, how these mechanisms are regulated and controlled, how they shape the carbon and nitrogen budgets of plants and ecosystems, and how they have evolved to sustain life under extreme environmental conditions.

There are currently three major projects in Sahay Lab

  1. Understanding how photosynthesis works in vivo Learn more
  2. Finding new genetic sources in photosynthetic energy and nitrogen conversion Learn more
  3. Modifying physiological pathways controlling carbon and nitrogen budget Learn more
